locate

find filenames quickly

  • Look for pattern in the database. Note: the database is recomputed periodically (usually weekly or daily).

locate {{pattern}}

  • Recompute the database. You need to do it if you want to find recently added files.

sudo /usr/libexec/locate.updatedb
